Mu Sochua urges Obama to cancel visit to Cambodia

Give our kids a better deal
Opposition Sam Rainsy Party lawmaker Mu Sochua
PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Opposition Sam Rainsy Party lawmaker Mu Sochua has appealed to US President Barack Obama to cancel his visit to Cambodia in November.

"Please don’t let a communist government consider his visit as support for human rights abuse and unfair elections," she said, calling for electoral reform.

US Embassy spokesman Sean McIntosh said the White House had not yet officially announced the visit.

During a visit to Phnom Penh in July, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Obama was "looking forward" to visiting Cambodia for the East Asia Summit in November.

If the President Obama was to come to Cambodia, it would be primarily for the US interests and not to make the day for Hun Sen. Uncle Sam cannot afford to leave the seat empty when China, Russia, Japan, India and many other regional powers will be there. The diplomacy is not a catwalk or a beauty pageant event. My understanding is that the president will be there to show the commitments of America for Asia Pacific Region as a whole and the ASEAN in particular. I wonder if it is appropriate to lobby a foreign superpower for domestic political gains. Please do not hijack American policy to advance your own political agenda.

In case Obama cancel his next visit-trip to Cambodia, that means the CPP will have the opportunity to run our country for another 8 years.

This kind of the situation, that the opposition wanted ? The national rescue or the rescue national.

Mu Sochua is right. Wrong message to the world. Cambodia need American's principle/stand for democracy. It's going to be a big blow for Cambodian people, who have paid so much blood for democracy since the 1970s.

Since the President of the United States is THE most powerful man in the world, MP Mu Sochua
tried to solicit his power and influence to persuade Hun Sen to adopt true democracy in the Banana Kingdom.
We Khmers should praise her efforts.

Let obama visits cambodia, maybe he'll address some human rights issues with hun sen. Just wait and see before assuming that obama, america, supports hun sen regime.

“MP Mu Sochua tried to solicit Obama power and influence to persuade Hun Sen to adopt true democracy in the Kingdom.” There nothing wrong with this idea, but it is problematic to try to persuade him not to come to Cambodia. So do you think that by staying home, the president Obama can just write an e-mail to Hun Sen “to adopt true democracy in the Kingdom” when others world leaders like presidents Putin, Hu Chin Tao, and others leaders of the Asia Pacific will be dining and dancing with him? Also it would be a real headache if the President was not persuaded by the lobby for a boycott by MP Mu Sokhua and decide to joint the Asia Pacific conference anyway, will that mean that the US ignore the Cambodian opposition and the leaders of the Oppositions party should feel abandoned? That's the real question. There should be an alternative solution to the habit of crying baby for help each and every time we are in difficulties.
We should growth up.

The point is Ms. Sochua and the opposition parties have done numerous things, including requesting the changes in NEC, but to no avail.
We beleive that President Obama still goes, but
he now knows how important Ms. Sochua's wishes are to the Khmer people. Consequently and hopefully, he must and will address the issues with you know who.
By the way, we are not crying babies.
Beside criticising other Khmer nationalists, what have YOU done ? What are YOUR solutions ?

CPP dogs will take any chance and every chance to attack oppositions and the supporters, because the CPP dogs have never understood freedom.

CPP dogs, often send to study overseas cant stand to live among the citizen. They miss living in Cambodia where they are treated with power and power.

in the real world, CPP dogs are nothing more then dogs. Hun Sen may be a thug in Cambodia, but outside no khmer respect this barking dogs.

Sometime in a hurry, people go out and forget to look in the mirror and feel ashamed when strangers start to notice what they don’t want to hear. What other see and react could be simply the picture in that mirror, although sometime distorted. Criticism could be that picture of you as seen by other. So criticizing doesn’t necessary mean denigrating. Don’t you think that criticism can be also constructive? “If given properly, it is effective in getting results, making changes and improvements for the good of relationships or in the organization or company” Unfortunately, in some circumstances, not all the caribous follow the herd.

10:10 PM,

Lecturing, such as this is unwarranted and uncalled for.
Now than ever, we NEED national UNITY.
When our enemies spot a weak link in the chains, they sure will capitalize on that, and attack.

On the other hand, SOLUTIONS are very needed,
and appreciateed.

Oops ! @ 3:21 AM,
It should have been " SOLUTIONS are very much needed and appreciated ".
